Privacy policy

Caring Curator is a small website, run by one person, that recommends products.

The short version

• I don't ask you to sign in or create an account.
• I don't take payments or store any payment details.
• I don't sell your personal information.
• The only information I ask for is what you type into the tech help request form, and only if you use it.
• When you click a product link, you leave this site and go to Amazon, which has its own privacy practices.

Affiliate links and cookies

Caring Curator participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you click a link to Amazon, Amazon may place a cookie on your device so it can credit any resulting purchase to me. This is how I may earn a small commission. You can read more on my disclosure page.

How Amazon uses that cookie and any information it collects is governed by Amazon's own privacy notice, which you can read on Amazon's website.

Analytics

I use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages are popular, so I can improve the site. It counts visits and page views in aggregate, and it counts taps on the Amazon buttons (which product, not who tapped). It doesn't use cookies and isn't used to identify you personally.

The tech help request form

If you use the form on the tech help page, I collect what you type into it: what you'd like help with, what kind of visit it is, the dates and hours you pick, anything else you choose to tell me in the optional box, your name, your phone number, and whether you'd rather get a call than a text. The form also records the time you sent it.

The details are emailed to me through Resend, an email delivery service, and the code that sends them runs on Vercel, which hosts this site. Nothing you type is stored in a database on this site. Resend keeps a copy of each message it delivers for a limited time, and once the email reaches my inbox, which is Gmail, Google's privacy policy covers it there.

I use what you send to text or call you back and arrange the visit. That's all. I don't add you to a mailing list, and I don't share or sell it. I keep the email until the visit is done, then delete it unless you've asked me to keep it.

The form uses a hidden field and a timing check to catch automated submissions instead of a CAPTCHA, and it sets no cookies.

Everything else

Outside that form, this site has no logins and no other forms, so I don't collect personal information such as your name or email address. Like most websites, the hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs basic technical information about each request, such as your browser type and approximate location, for security and reliability, and keeps it for a short time.

The heart (Save) button remembers which products you saved, so your Saved list is still there next time. That is stored only in your own browser (using local storage), never leaves your device, and is never sent to me. You can remove it any time with the "Remove all saved items" button on the Saved page, or by clearing your browser's storage.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for adults and isn't directed to children under 13. I don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I'll change the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
